Senior Draughtsperson, Scenic Construction – ROH

Fixed Term Contract (12 months) – role available for an immediate start

Full time: 42.5 hours per week

Salary: £41,265.12 per annum

Based in: Purfleet, Essex

The Royal Opera House (ROH) is home to three of the world’s great performing art companies: The Royal Ballet, The Royal Opera, and the Orchestra of the Royal Opera House. We aspire to produce great art, telling stories that can speak to universal themes that move us.

We currently have an exciting opportunity to join the Royal Opera House Scenic Construction team at the Bob and Tamar Manoukian Production Workshop, our purpose built state-of-the-art 3750 sq. metre building in Purfleet, Essex. The site contains a scenic construction carpentry workshop, metal workshop, paint studio and fit up area, enabling us to make scenery for the Royal Opera and Royal Ballet companies and the Birmingham Royal Ballet.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced Senior Draughtsperson to support in the realisation and production of scenery for opera and ballet productions at the Royal Opera House.

This role will suit a candidate who can demonstrate strong creative crafting skills within a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have:

• Professional experience of scenic draughting in a theatre environment.

• Knowledge of theatre structural engineering and scenic construction in a largescale theatre environment.

• Experience of working positively with designers both in house and external.

• A firm understanding and experience of/advanced user of AutoCAD/Inventor 3D Modelling.

• Excellent IT skills including Photoshop (or equivalent) and MS office, in addition to any other software appropriate to the role.

• A positive attitude to being a team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
