Tasks and training details
Your day will start at 8am when you sign in and the Site Manager instructs the team on the day’s tasks. You will work alongside your nominated team buddy, who with the others will instruct and guide you through your tasks. Over the 24mts you will gain a unique opportunity to experience and learn: · A full range of conservation cleaning and repair techniques as applied to traditional historic buildings (i.e. Stone, earth, brick, and lime, asbv used for mortars, renders & paints). · About moving, handling, and storing equipment and materials safely. · Preparing and mixing of mortar for pointing & repairs · Collecting records both written and photographic of work to be undertaken · Dismantling, rebuilding, and repairing sympatric to the existing historic structure. · Matching new masonry and the preparation of templates and moulds, on and off site You will also be expected to engage in the regular site team toolbox talks covering aspects of Health and Safety in the workplace.
Final qualification gained
Building Craft College, London. Stone Masonry (Heritage) L2 Standard Apprenticeship. Although either Banker or Exterior Fixer is also an option any final choice will be made mid-way through the 24-month traineeship in consultation with the college, trainee, and company.

Details of your working week Monday to Friday 8am to 4.30 pm with ½ hour unpaid lunch break and a ½ hour paid coffee/tea break.

Max 40 hrs per week
Pay
The hourly rate will be agreed, based on existing experience and skills levels. Min level £10.50
Area/location of work
Your on-site learning will take place across multiple sites throughout Greater London (and further afield if willing – which is applicable then all accommodation costs paid for together with a set daily subsistence payment).

Qualifications you should have
The ideal applicant will meet the following minimum qualifications/requirements.
· Min 18yr+ (or within 3 months)
· Ideally Grade 4 in Maths and English (or equivariant) or achieve the equivalent of a Functional Skills L2 to successfully pass Maths and English, and your apprenticeship.
· Commitment to, and interest in, Masonry and care for buildings of an historic nature.
· Access to own transport would be preferred although not essential.
What you can expect on completing this apprenticeship
To continue within the company developing skills by active engagement in ongoing CPD & essential H&S training. With experience and aptitude progressing from general operative to Site Supervisor, Manager and potentially (as others within the company have done) to Contracts Manager
Other considerations
Should be hard-working, enthusiastic, willing to learn, and committed to a career in this specialist area of work. Be able to demonstrate an interest in, and care for, historic structures. The work is extensively outdoors and involves heavy lifting and climbing on scaffolds and will be located across Greater London on multiple sites
