Craft Evening Class: Introduction To Woodworking – January 2025

This course offers an excellent introduction to woodworking. We’ll teach you how to create conventional wood joints with traditional hand tools and techniques.

Term-time evening class study.

Suitable for complete beginners.

Experienced tutors will show you how to work accurately and safely with chisels, planes, saws and marking and measuring tools and how to assemble your finished joints with glue and clamps.

We’ll make the classic joints including halvings, mortice & tenons and dovetails.

Learn the fundamentals of wood – its structure, properties and how best to work with it.

We’ll talk about how to curate your very own tool collection and good places to buy from.

Sharpening techniques – how to keep your tools razor sharp.

Receive tailored advice on what other courses our college offers to help you on your woodworking journey.

  • Continuing to the second term or mainstream programme
  • For currently enrolled BCC students (on a study programme or apprenticeship) a 25% discount will be applied on the fees for a short course taken in the same academic year that they are enrolled
  • For any currently enrolled short course student who wants to enrol on a full or part time study programme (19+) in the subsequent academic year we offer a 50% fee rebate on the cost of their short course.
  • For any BCC alumni of study programme or apprenticeship they can get a 20% discount on the short course fee.

Discounts can only be redeemed when applying directly via the college, any short course purchased on Eventbrite is not eligible for discounts.
