Checkmate Fire – Employer Visit

07/02/2025

At the BCC we regularly host employer visits where experienced individuals from various trade companies speak to our students about their experience in the workplace, and offer valuable insights into gaining employment. Most recently we had a BCC qualified apprentice, Ryan Miller, from Checkmate Fire, the UK’s leading passive fire protection specialists.

“I’d like to say a huge thank you to Ryan Miller from Checkmate Fire who very kindly gave up his time to come into the college and speak with our apprentices and diploma students. Ryan spoke about his journey from an apprentice here at the college to his role now as a contracts manager. Speaking with some of the students after the event, they all said how interesting it was to hear what Ryan had to say and that it had actually inspired them” –Andy Stirrup, Site Carpentry Tutor
