Perfect for complete beginners looking to develop practical DIY skills, this hands-on 5 session carpentry course will give you the knowledge, confidence and experience to tackle a range of woodworking and home improvement tasks.
Guided by experienced tutors, you’ll learn how to safely use common carpentry hand tools while building practical skills that can be applied to projects around the home. From installing shelving and laminate flooring to fitting skirting boards and architraves, this course provides a solid foundation in carpentry practices.
What you’ll learn
Session 1 – Introduction to Carpentry Hand Tools
Learn how to safely use and maintain a range of essential hand tools
Session 2 – Shelving
Learning how to measure, cut, and fix shelving units in place
Session 3 – Laminate Flooring
Learn how to prepare surfaces for fitting laminate flooring, and lay the flooring accurately
Session 4 – Skirting
Learn how to measure, cut, and fit skirting boards
Session 5 – Architraves & Summary
Learn how to fit architraves and create a neat clean finish around door frames, bridging the gap between the plaster and the door.
By the end of this course you will be able to:

- Power Tool Confidence – Designed to follow on from Carpentry Basics, our Power Tool Confidence course teaches you how to safely and effectively utilise power tools in your DIY projects, and build confidence when working with more advanced equipment
- Intro to Woodworking – For those looking to hone their woodworking skills, this course gives you a more in-depth introduction into timber selection, toolbox composition, and finishing. During this 10 session course you will learn standard woodworking joints and finishing techniques, perfect for hobbyists and those looking to take on more advanced DIY projects.
Overall capacity for this class is 20, this course operates at a tutor to student ratio of 1:10. Keeping this ratio ensures more individual guidance for each student.
