This practical five week evening course is designed for complete beginners who want to gain hands on plastering skills in a professional workshop environment. Ideal for those looking to renovate their own home, looking to save money on repairs, or exploring a future career in construction, this course provides the perfect introduction.

Working in a small group of just six learners, you’ll receive plenty of individual guidance from our experienced tutor as you develop the techniques used by professional plasterers. From preparing surfaces and fixing plasterboard to achieving a smooth skim finish, you’ll gain the confidence to take on a range of plastering projects at home.

  • Apply smooth skim coats of plaster
  • Build confidence in laying and finishing multiple coats

Our plastering course has a capacity of 6 students, a smaller class size allows each student to get more 1:1 time with our experienced tutor and develop their skills further

No previous experience is necessary for this course, we start from the beginning and all students are taught the basics before progressing onto the more advanced skills

Steel toe boots are necessary for this course and must be provided by students. These can be picked up online or at trade stores.

Appropriate clothing is advised, you will be inside during the course, but the temperature in our workshops can often be similar to the temperature outside! Don’t wear your nicest outfit, be prepared to get a bit mucky!

Please note that the College reserves the right to modify or cancel courses prior to their start date

  • For currently enrolled BCC students (on a study programme or apprenticeship) a 25% discount will be applied on the fees for a short course taken in the same academic year that they are enrolled
  • For any currently enrolled short course student who wants to enrol on a full or part time study programme (19+) in the subsequent academic year we offer a 50% fee rebate on the cost of their short course.
  • For any BCC alumni of study programme or apprenticeship they can get a 20% discount on the short course fee.
